Artist's Commentary:
This image represents three of my favourite things: sunbathing, ladybugs, and violets. I am like a cat in that I seek out a sunbeam to lie in. I adore that feeling of being warm and protected. Like many children, I loved to catch a ladybug and let it wander around my fingers counting the spots and marveling in it's beauty. I still love to find a ladybug and will always stop and admire it. As for violets, we had these tiny "johnny jump ups" along the side of the house when I was growing up. The vibrant colours are so attractive.
