Description
I went for a walk at Deer Lake on Easter Sunday. While I didn't see any deer, I was treated to this sweet scene of couple of Canadian Geese and their goslings out for a swim. They are one of my favourite birds for a few reasons:
The Canadian Goose is a migratory bird which fly in a V formation. It is such a comforting and familiar site to me to see the V and hear their honking in the fall. The interesting thing about the V shape is that how it depends on teamwork. The front position takes the most energy but creates an easier time for the rest by reducing wind resistance. When the lead bird gets tired, it rotates out to the back of the V where there is the least wind resistance. This formation allows the geese more glide time which in turn allows them to fly further in a day.
The Canadian Goose is monogamous and if one of the pair is injured, they will both drop out of formation and stay together.
Artist's Commentary:
My photograph was augmented using Photoshop to calm the waters and add a surreal feeling.
Artist's Finishing Recommendations:
FAA's fashionable and luminescent Metal Print would be my pick to play up the contrast of light and dark in this image. There are numerous attractive custom framing/matting options available to suit any decor. I encourage you to experiment by clicking on the finishing icons located above this text to choose your favorite finishing.
